Privacy Policy
Introduction
Ondřej, the solo developer behind Aethos, created this app to track matches with transparency. The core principle: "Your match data stays on your device. I collect anonymous usage analytics to improve the app, but I never know who you are."
Local data storage
Aethos stores locally on your device:
- Match history and game scores
- Champion Legend and deck preferences
- App settings
- Achievement progress
Data resides on your phone or tablet using the platform's standard storage. The developer cannot access this information.
Analytics & app improvement
PostHog, a privacy-focused analytics service, helps improve the app. Here's what's collected:
Specific data points
- Match events (start, save, manual log including Champion Legend, tournament type, target score, win/loss)
- Story chapter unlocks and opens
- Subscription interactions (paywall views, plan taps, purchases with SKU and price — never card details)
- Onboarding steps and first saved match timing
- Session duration, app version, OS version, language, device model, crashes
A randomly generated UUID (created on first launch, stored locally) allows tracking like "this user played 12 matches" without identifying the person. This ID never connects to names, emails, Apple IDs, Google accounts, or external systems.
Data location & retention
- Events transmit to PostHog's EU servers (Frankfurt, Germany)
- Raw event data deletes after 12 months
- No third-party sharing except PostHog as the data processor
Privacy protections
- Random ID identification, not personal identifiers
- No collection of personal information (email, name, location, contacts)
- No data sharing with advertisers or third parties
- No cross-app or cross-website tracking
- No advertising identifier use (IDFA/AAID)
- App Tracking Transparency not used
What the developer doesn't do
The app never:
- Collects personal information
- Tracks location
- Accesses photos, contacts, or files (unless explicitly exported)
- Tracks across other apps or websites
- Reads advertising identifiers
- Sells or shares data
- Uses data beyond app improvement
Peer-to-peer match sharing
Users can share match data with nearby opponents locally:
- Data transfers directly device-to-device
- Nothing routes through external servers
- Manual initiation only
- Only match info shared (scores, Champions, results)
Subscriptions
Aethos Prime payments process through Apple App Store or Google Play. The developer never sees payment details. Support available through official channels.
Children & privacy
The app collects no personal information. Anonymous analytics cannot identify individuals. It suits users of all ages.
User rights & controls
Users can:
- Opt out of analytics via Settings → Privacy → Analytics
- Delete local data by uninstalling
- Request remote data deletion by emailing the developer with their random ID (30-day deletion window)
- Use peer-to-peer sharing without server involvement
EU/UK users have GDPR rights regarding data access, correction, portability, and processing objections.
